Vulnerable Clients

Becketts is committed to providing advice that recognises and respects the individual needs of every client. We understand that vulnerability can affect anyone, at any time, and we take care to ensure that all our clients are treated with empathy, fairness and understanding.

Our approach combines professional standards with genuine care — creating an environment where everyone feels supported, informed and confident in the advice they receive.

The Financial Vulnerability Taskforce Charter

We support the Financial Vulnerability Taskforce (FVT) Charter and commit to its principles. The Charter sets clear expectations for how professionals identify, understand, and respond to clients in vulnerable circumstances, and forms part of the Consumer Duty Alliance’s Code of Professional Standards.

What this means for our clients

  • We put clients’ interests first and act with extra care where vulnerability may be present.
  • We explain our services and likely costs clearly, using plain, jargon-free language.
  • We recognise that vulnerability can be visible or hidden, temporary or long-term, and we avoid labels that stigmatise.
  • We adapt our processes so clients in vulnerable circumstances can achieve outcomes equal to those who are not.
  • We train our people to respond with empathy, protect confidentiality, and act swiftly if someone may be at risk of harm.
  • If you’d like to talk to us about additional support, please let your Planner know—everything you share will be handled sensitively and in confidence.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive and supportive environment, and with the network support group and regular articles and guidance, we are able to guide employees through this period of change – and signpost them to help if required.

We offer an Employee Assistance programme under our BUPA Cash Plan and we have the 24/7 GP, mental health & healthy diet and fitness service programmes available.

A guide has been produced for line managers so they are able to support a member of their team.
